Child’s Heavy Breathing

Child’s heavy breathing: causes, symptoms, are they worth paying attention? The child is breathing heavily. Many parents do not pay attention, and this can be one of the symptoms of autonomic dysfunction syndrome (ADS). Let’s consider the causes, symptoms of сhild’s heavy breathing.

Child’s heavy breathing as one of the symptoms of autonomic dysfunction syndrome (ADS).

Autonomic Dysfunction

The autonomic nervous system performs important functions of preserving and maintaining the constancy of an internal environment of the body. Violations of the ADS function are manifested in vegetative dysfunctions, which lead to a “failure” in the work of internal organs and body systems.

Vegetative disorders are quite common at a young age, and the first manifestations are found with children and adolescents, and what’s interesting girls are about 3 times more likely than boys. Common symptoms are headache, dizziness, increased irritability, anxiety, restlessness, increased fatigue, reduced working capacity, constant inner tension, bad mood, tearfulness, sleep and appetite disorders, various fears, a feeling of air lack, heavy aspiration.

The causes of autonomic dysfunction can be:

  • Mental stress.
  • Hormonal alteration.
  • Moving to another country, changing the usual climate.
  • Significant physical, mental and emotional stress.
  • Disease recurrence.
  • Neurotic disorders.

Also, depending on the location of the disturbances chest pain, tachycardia, pains and disorders in the stomach, malfunctioning of the body’s thermoregulation may appear.

Child’s breathing disorder

One of the most common symptoms of ADS is a child’s breathing disorder. It can be manifested by gravity, lack of air, frequent and difficult air inlets. Children with an autonomic dysfunction syndrome often experience respiratory neurosis. A child can suddenly feel shortness of breath, breathes heavily, he or she feels out of breath. In some cases, against the background of uniform quiet breathing deep and frequent inhalations may occur. At the same time, the child can not completely exhale the air.

Respiratory impairment accompanying an autonomic dysfunction is also called hyperventilation syndrome. Among children aged 1-17 years, HVS occurs in 21% of patients (24.7% of girls and 16.2% of boys), and it is also believed that only 5% of patients have an organic hyperventilation origin , 60% of patients – only psychogenic origin, the others – mixed combination of reasons.

Presentations of hyperventilation syndrome can cause a lot of problems to a child. The sensation that the air does not enter the lungs, but stops somewhere in the trachea, causes the child to take frequent and deep breaths, helping him with hands and body movements to maximize the chest. If the child can make a couple of deep breaths, the discomfort disappears for a few minutes, but after a while the respiratory impairment appears again.

These disorders can be triggered by excitement, physical activity, being in a stuffy room or emotional stress on the child’s psyche. As a rule, with an acute attack of the respiratory neurosis, breathing becomes arrhythmic, that is, frequent and superficial inhalations are interrupted by separate deep breaths and the next pause.

Often, due to breathing disorders, the child may have problems with the emotional sphere. For example, he or she may experience unreasonable anxiety and groundless childish fears. Children with ADS are often depressed, they are prone to apathy, hypochondria, hysteria, and some may even have a nervous breakdown.

Autonomic dysfunction syndrome and breathing disorders treatment

If you notice a child’s symptoms described above – do not hesitate to contact a medical specialist. Against the background of even the initial, weak manifestations, serious health problems may develop. You can make the appointment with the “Bersenev’s Medical Center” for a highly qualified doctor who will make up for you a program of complex competent treatment.

The vegetative syndromes in “Bersenev’s Medical Center” are considered from the standpoint of the integrity of a specific vascular pool and the apparatus of its control, that is, the vegetative structure. This means that the therapeutic effects of circulatory disorders should be directed specifically at vegetative structures. The outpatient treatment sessions in our center include neurometameric reflexotherapy and metameric medication injections to a child.

Also, an individual home treatment program is prepared for each patient. Performing all the medical recommendations and having completed a full course of treatment according to the metameric method, you will help your child to get rid of an autonomic nervous system dysfunction.
