Organic central nervous system lesions are a group of various neuropsychic disorders resulting from the influence of pathological factors upon the brain at different stages of ontogenetic development. This pathology has many behaviour options and various pathogenesis.

Pathogenesis and clinical aspects of cerebral-organic disorders depend on:
- The causes of lesion;
- the period of brain affection;
- location, strength and depth of brain system severity rate;
- time passed since the disease emergence resulting in brain damage.
In case of embryonic stage fetus affection there is a risk of severe fatal malformations appearance.
A CNS lesion may happen within different gestation periods: within fetal life period (antenatal), during childbirth (intranatal) and after the child’s delivery (postnatal).
The classification of CNS organic lesions in the modern world is usually based on causes and mechanisms leading to CNS involvements of newborns or older children.
According to this classification there distinguish four groups of perinatal CNS lesions:
- Traumatic CNS lesions in newborns. This group of lesions is the main accompanying factor of CNS tissue damage during childbirth or during the first hours of a child’s life;
- Hypoxic CNS lesions: hypoxia is the key factor of the brain injury;
- Toxic-metabolic and dysmetabolic CNS lesions in newborns: the factor of damage is a metabolic disorder in the child’s body in the fetal period;
- CNS involvement in contagious diseases; an infectious agent (usually a virus) has the main damaging action.
Causes of organic CNS lesions in newborns
- Mother’s somathopaty
- Drug administration across pregnancy
- Mother’s bad habits
- Stress
- Maternal malnutrition
- Immaturity of a pregnant woman
- Acute infectious diseases during pregnancy
- Hereditary diseases associated with CNS lesions at a young age
- Metabolic disorders of pregnant women
- Pathological gestation course
- Unfavourable environmental conditions (rapid temperature and blood pressure changes)
- Toxic and radiation effects
Intranatal causes are the pathological delivery course and natal injuries.
Postnatal causes:
- Ischemic or haemorrhagic stroke;
- CNS injuries ;
- Neuroinfection;
- Cerebrospinal axis tumours .
CNS involvement symptoms
- Speech disorders. Late speech development, poor vocabulary and in severe cases complete lack of speech skills are noted: children with this kind of CNS lesion are able to pronounce only sounds and some single words.
- Children with organic CNS pathology hold their head, sit and walk a bit later than usual. Their autokinesis is disturbed; self-feeding, playing and self-service is complicating as well.
- Mental disturbance – a weak academic progress at school and kindergarten.
The following problems can arise at the same time: memory impairments, logical thinking disorders; developmental delay; intellectual incapacity (from slight loop of intelligence to debility, idiocy, oligophrenia); surrounding world perceptual defects; education failures. Increased excitability and even inactivity are characteristic for such children.
The CNS lesion should be immediately treated by making an appointment with a doctor at our medical centre. The sooner you start CNS lesions treatment, the better chances for a successful result you will have.
Possible outcomes of organic CNS lesion:
- Near-complete recovery. The absence of any noticeable CNS defects in newborns.
- Manifestations that do not pose a danger to life, but in one way or another limit work and self-care.
- Rough lesions – a person is bedfast, needs constant care
The outcome of the disease directly depends on the timeliness diagnosing, correct complex treatment, and also on the patient’s age.
CNS treatment in newborns
The earlier the complex and active treatment is started, the more chances are to cure the child. Due to children brain plasticity it is possible to overcome all the pathological changes, which have occurred as a result of the CNS lesion. In other cases, residual phenomena of transient nature may remain.
Specialists of our medical centre have an extensive experience working with similar developmental disorders and applying the metameric treatment methods.
Due to metameric methods the CNS regeneration and brain organic lesions curing became possible.
Thousands of children, who have been treated in our clinic, have practically caught up with their peers in development; their intellectual activity, mental and motor abilities have significantly improved.
