Ulnar nerve neuropathy is manifested in violation of its function as a result of nerve trunk compression in the narrow musculoskeletal canals of elbow joint and wrist or as a result of injury (stretching, ulnar nerve tearing) during dislocations and subluxations in the elbow joint. Neuropathy affected by nerve compression in the cubital tunnel is also known as “cubital tunnel syndrome”.
The wrist muscles weakness, muscle hypotrophy of the first web space area, little finger sensory decrement, pain, tingling along the ulnar nerve are characteristic symptoms for the insufficient ulnar nerve injury.
The numbness of little finger skin, half of the ring finger, ulnar palm edge, the palsy of muscles adducing and flexing the thumb are distinct features for the complete ulnar nerve injury. A person is disturbed of the constant tightness, soreness, burning in the little finger and the half of the ring finger areas. The formation of the so-called “bird arm” arises due to paresis and wrist muscles atrophy.
