Treatment of Myopathies
Comprehensive rehabilitation for myopathies—to reduce muscle weakness, maintain mobility, and improve the child’s quality of life.

Pediatric Ward
Myopathies are a group of hereditary and acquired diseases characterized by progressive damage to the skeletal muscles. The most well-known form is Duchenne muscular dystrophy, which in children manifests as muscle weakness, changes in gait, and rapid fatigue. Without treatment, muscle tissue is gradually replaced by fat, leading to loss of mobility, contractures, and respiratory problems.
The Bersenev Medical Center has developed an effective rehabilitation program for children with myopathies. It includes metameric administration of medications that improve neuromuscular conduction and muscle trophism. Physical therapy, massage, orthoses, night splints, and respiratory support are also used. Moderate physical activity and swimming help maintain muscle tone. The goal of the program is to preserve muscle function, improve the child’s quality of life, and delay the development of complications.
