The autism is a child’s mental development disorder, which is characterized by a lack of communication and speech and motor disorders. The term autism was introduced by the Swiss psychiatrist Eigen Brailer in 1910 to describe schizophrenia. Autism is characterized by specific behavior characterized by stereotyped activities, repetitive actions, and minor interests. Such children prefer to be in their own inner world, and any external influence is regarded as an annoying interference with it.
Causes of autism
Autism can be the result of a brain development disorder even before the child’s birth. Quite often autism develops in boys; girls experience this condition 3 times less. Scientists still can not determine the true cause of autism development. Some believe that there is a hereditary predisposition to it. It is confirmed by the fact that if an autistic child was born in a family, the probability of autism development in a second child is about 10%. Some time ago, there existed a postvaccination autism theory, but the conducted researches did not confirm a correlation with the vaccinations of children.
Symptoms of autism
The first signs of autism in children begin to show up at the age of 3, just when children begin to be interested in other children, try to contact with others and develop socially. Autism strongly influences the child’s development and personality, and the consequences of this influence, as a rule, affect the entire life of the person and lead to a social isolation in future. Parents need to pay attention to their child and to determine whether he/she seeks solitude, in what way he/she communicates with other children, whether he/she takes part in panel games or prefers isolation (autistic children are not interested in making friends). For such children a slowdown of speech development is a characteristic feature, the child may well manage with gestures and his own invented words, in addition, some words can be interpreted in his own way; the child can repeat the same words several times. Very often such children do not react to a smile and do not smile themselves.

Diagnostics of autism
Unfortunately, there are no medical tests that can be used to diagnose autism. The diagnosis is made only on the basis of observation of how the child develops and how he/she behaves with other people. Depending on the severity of manifestations, autism can be both mild and severe. There are also diseases of the autism spectrum, which are characterized by autism signs, but they are less marked. You need to bring your child to the neurologist in case:
- the child does not respond to his/her name;
- cannot explain what he/she wants;
- do not follow any instructions from adults;
- there exist periodical hearing disorders;
- does not understand how to play with a certain toy;
- poorly establishes visual contact;
- doesn’t smile at others;
- doesn’t babble and doesn’t walk at the age of 12 months;
- lags behind his/her peers in speech development.
In “Bersenev’s Medical Center” we apply a metameric treatment method, which is a certain sequence and combination unique complex of therapeutic interventions. An individual rehabilitation program is being developed for each child. This program includes the complex work of doctor, massages therapist and speech therapist, and is based on the principles of the metameric theory of human structure.
Only the joint work of our doctors and parents can give your child an opportunity to live a full-fledged life.
