Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is a quite common disease that is based on the central nervous system dysfunction (mainly the brain reticular formation).

This pathology manifests in concentration difficulties and attention fluctuation, learning and memory disorders, as well as difficulties of information and stimulus processing.

The term “attention deficit disorder” was coined in the early 80’s out of the broader concept of “minimal cerebral dysfunction.” According to different authors, the attention deficit hyperactivity disorder occurrence varies from 2.2% to 18% among school-age children. Practically in every class room there is at least one child suffering such a disease.

Depending on clinical syndromes prevalence there exist three types of disease progression:

  1. Attention deficit disorder with hyperactivity;
  2. Attention deficit disorder without hyperactivity;
  3. Hyperactivity disorder without attention deficit.

There are many opinions concerning hyperactivity causes. Many researchers note that the number of such children is growing every year.

Main syndrome causes the as of today:

  • Genetic conditions (hereditary predisposition);
  • Biological (organic brain lesion across pregnancy, cerebrospinal axis birth trauma, as well as the cervical spine, and liquor-dynamic disturbances);
  • Psychosocial (unfavourable family climate, parents’ alcoholism, bad living conditions, wrong upbringing strategy).

The reasons for consulting a neurologist may be the following features of the child’s behaviour:

  • a child cannot focus on an interesting occupation for a long while, has an unstable attention;
  • a child does not respond to appeal, although he/she hears that they address him/her;
  • a child takes on any task with enthusiasm and desire, but, as a rule, does not complete it;
  • a child has difficulties in games, studies, classes organization;
  • a child often loses things, does not remember the place he/she put them;
  • a child avoids boring, requiring mental effort tasks, and diligence;
  • a child moves restlessly, cannot stay still;
  • a child shows concern (drums, humps along even when sitting);
  • a child doesn’t sleep much, even in infancy;
  • a child with the “motor” inside;  is always in motion;
  • a child is very talkative;
  • a child answers before he/she is being asked, interrupts;
  • a child cannot wait for his turn, impatient;
  • a child often interferes;
  • a child has sharp mood swings;
  • a child cannot postpone the reward (here and now);
  • a child disobeys the rules of behaviour or games, argues, clamours;
  • a child has a different task execution level (calm in some classes, restless in others).

Hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is when none but a doctor would set a diagnostic opinion. Noticing the above mentioned features of child’s behaviour, it is necessary to contact a paediatric neurologist.

The specialist will determine the diagnosis, as well as help to determine the probable cause of syndrome origin, taking into account the metameric man’s constitution.
If “hyperactivity disorder” diagnosis is made early enough, and the parents follow all the doctor’s recommendations, and do everything possible for disease elimination, the symptoms will disappear by school. But, unfortunately, many parents ask for help when the child is already attending school, and problems with studying have already begun. Child’s general condition and behavior are sharply worsening; he/she wanes interest in study, the child cannot absorb the school programme, and inadequately behaves himself.

In our medical centre we apply metameric treatment method, which is a unique therapeutic interventions complex in a certain sequence and combination. Doctors of our medical centre have developed an individual treatment and rehabilitation program for each child; this program presupposes the doctor, massage therapist, and speech therapist team-work. All medical and corrective measures in the clinic are conducted strictly in a complex, based on the principles of the metameric theory of human structure.

Thanks to the metameric treatment method and customized approach to the complexity of procedure conducting the children, who underwent treatment and rehabilitation within Bersenev’s Medical Centre, showed their best results.

Children became more restrained and calm, their attention and learning focusing improved, they sleep well, and the communication with peers came right.
